Airport International Group (AIG), the Jordanian company responsible for the rehabilitation, expansion and operation of Queen Alia International Airport (QAIA), announced on Sunday the arrival of Vueling Airlines, a low cost carrier, based in Barcelona. Vueling Airlines will be flying on a charter basis twice a week between Barcelona and Amman until September 12, 2010, on board of its Airbus A320 aircraft.

The fact that QAIA continues to welcome new airlines is a strong indicator of Jordan's position in the aviation industry and the successful strategy implemented by AIG in transforming QAIA to a regional hub."

Nayef Al Fayez, the managing director of the Jordan Tourism Board, said: "This new service will reflect positively on tourism attracting more tourists from Spain. We are always keen to launch worldwide campaigns that aim to attract more tourist traffic to Jordan." A variety of new routes and additional flights frequencies have recently been announced to-and-from QAIA, effective this summer.
